Situated in the heart of the Caribbean Sea is the beautiful Isla de Margarita , a by-product of the convergence of two peninsulas through an isthmus. This island is the largest of the three islands in the state of Nueva Esparata and is located off the northern coast of Venezuela .
In eastern Venezuela , the huge river delta of the Orinoco River is called as the Orinoco Delta . This is a region in the shape of a fan through which several distributataries of the Orinoco river flow and mix with the sea. The Orinoco Delta is also called as the Deltaic System . It is one of the nine geographical areas of Venezuela . The culture of this place is largely determined by the Warao Indians which are the native inhabitants of this delta. These people spend their daily life hunting and gathering objects in the surrounding forests, fishing in canoes in the distributaries of the Orinoco River and live in wooden houses raised on stilts.
