But it’s not just looking backwards, there’s always a new bar, play or concert to see. It’s also one of the most international cities, with people from all around the world making their home here, so it’s just as easy to get Indian street food as it is a roast dinner. Yes it might rain a lot and no people won’t smile on the Tube, but whatever you’re interested in – from museums to shopping, rock to opera, budget to luxury – there’s a London that will suit you. Best Things to Do in London? Why should you consider Mackinac a possible vacation destination? No Car!! No kidding. Mackinac Island is the only U.S. community where motor vehicles are still outlawed. Of course, they have the standard emergency vehicles and snow plows to serve the 500-person year-round population, but if you want to get around, you’ll need to ride a bike or a horse, flag down a horse-drawn carriage, or walk. :)

Ladera Resort, St. Lucia Caribbean

Image
T he cottage resort has some of the most astonishing vistas of any resort in the Caribbean. You’ll wake up to St. Lucia’s twin Piton hills—massive green mounds that emerge 2,400 feet high from the teal ocean—and you’ll dine eye level with them, too, at the excellent Dasheene restaurant. While every room is open air, cooled only by breeze and ceiling fans, their tiered arrangement on the hillside ensures privacy.  Wooded interiors and mosquito-netting lend an authentic, cabin-in-the-sky vibe, and the stunning stargazing from the private pool is surreally romantic. With no electronic amenities (televisions, phones), this is an escapist’s dream.
